If you enjoy traveling at least twice a year or you’re working in a company that sends its employees to travel for work, you are required to adopt a dog breed that can handle the challenge.
You might say, “I can always ask someone to watch my dog!” And while that’s a great option, not everyone has a friend or family member available for that favor. Plus, many of us love the idea of taking our furry companions along and enjoying our adventures together!
The good news is some dog breeds love traveling; some of them are more suited for traveling by car, train, or airplane than others, which are more laid-back.
Traveling with a dog can be hard, but I’ve made it work with my cute pug, Chu! Luckily, pugs are among the breeds that are super relaxed while traveling.
But hey, I feel like I’ve talked too much, and I would rather not bore you, so let’s get to the point. Below you will find all the dog breeds that love traveling, and they’re a super sweet companion to have!
Chihuahua
A lengthy flight is getting closer, and you don’t have a dog sitter? There is no better breed to take with you than a tiny Chihuahua. They are the perfect pet if you frequently travel abroad because their small bodies don’t need a lot of movement.
Small dogs are permitted in the cabin beneath the seat on the majority of airlines, so I do advise researching pet policies beforehand. When traveling by car, use a secured carrier or an infant seat. Allowing them to roam freely is dangerous and distracting.
Labrador retriever

Not many people want teacup dogs, so for those seeking larger dog breeds that love traveling, Boxers might be a good choice. Prepare for the travel beforehand
Even if your dog enjoys riding with you in a car or isn’t afraid of flying, traveling with them can still be tricky. You must be ready for the journey.
Plan the trip, gather the required materials, and make the required arrangements. Will you be gone for longer than three days in a row? Depending on the mode of transportation, bring along plenty of food, treats, a leash, an airline-approved carrier, motion sickness medication, and plenty of water if the weather is warm.
You won’t need to pack as much if you’re just visiting a friend in the country for a quick visit as if you were staying in a hotel for a week abroad.
